Health Insurance for International Students in Australia

If you’re planning to study in Australia, it’s essential to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This insurance is mandatory for international students, as you’re not eligible for Medicare. OSHC helps cover medical and hospital costs during your stay.

You must have OSHC for the full duration of your course—and if you’re bringing family, they’ll need coverage too. For short courses (under 3 months), a tourist visa with private health insurance may be an option.

OSHC doesn’t include dental, optical, or physio—you’ll need extra cover for that. COVID-19 related treatments are generally included.

We work with top providers like BUPA, Medibank, AHM, NIB, and Allianz Care Australia to offer you affordable and reliable options.

Finished Studying? Switch to OVHC

If you’re applying for a work visa (like the 485 Temporary Graduate visa), you’ll need Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC) instead. It also supports general treatments and offers flexible monthly payments.
