What Happens on PTE Exam Day?

On test day, the PTE Academic exam is conducted at a certified Pearson testing centre and typically involves a small group of test takers (around 10–15 people). Here’s what to expect:

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes early to complete the secure check-in process.
  • The test administrator will explain the rules, verify your identity using a valid ID (such as a passport), take your digital photo and signature, and perform a palm vein scan.
  • You’ll be assigned a seat with a computer and headset — everything you need to complete the test.
  • The exam may test combined skills, such as listening and writing, or speaking and reading, all designed to reflect real-world use of English.
